Merger of Non-Profits Encourages Sustainability for Tampa Bay
TAMPA, FL – The Sustany® Foundation, a leading facilitator of sustainability in Tampa Bay has announced that they have completed the merger with Sustainable Business Coalition of Tampa Bay (SBC) a non-profit working to raise the profile of sustainability in the business community.
“We look forward to leveraging the vision and expertise of The Sustainable Business Coalition to enhance Sustany®’s commitment to Tampa Bay’s unique qualities by uniting best practices,” says David Reed, President of The Sustany® Foundation and President of Shepard Capital Partners, LLC, “Together with SBC, we have an opportunity to make a true impact on the business community.”
In the fall of 2014, the two non-profit organizations identified several programmatic and operational synergies and began initial merger discussions. On January 21, 2015, executive and board leaders of both organizations unanimously approved the merger. “The Sustany® Foundation’s leadership and membership engagement are terrific,” says Andrew McIntosh, Chairman of the SBC and partner with the law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. “Through the combined organization, and in partnering with University of Tampa, we see opportunity to efficiently extend our impact by supporting companies’ adoption of sustainable business practices.
